LILA’s Collective Website Redesign

I redesigned the website for Lila Lou Hudgins, an award-winning Impressionist artist. The site showcases her past, current, and in-progress artwork, while also promoting her commissioned work and involvement in major art fairs. My design focused on creating an intuitive, user-friendly experience that better organized her portfolio, highlighted her achievements, and made the site more marketable for her audience, including clients and gallery visitors. Her work has been featured by BMW and is exhibited in multiple galleries in Ann Arbor.

The Initial COnsultation AKA Determining the problem.

For our initial consultation, I asked Lila about the purpose of her website. She explained that she wanted it to serve as the central hub of her brand, targeting potential customers and companies interested in hiring her for custom art. After reviewing the meeting notes (shown on the right), I identified two key areas for improvement: establishing brand consistency through fonts, colors, and themes, and reorganizing the website navigation and layout. Due to the volume of her work, the site felt cluttered and needed a cleaner, more navigable design to enhance user experience and optimize it for marketing.

How did we Start Solving?

Keeping both industry standards, such as Google’s Material Design Guidelines, and foundational UX laws, such as Hick’s Law, in mind; we decided that the first thing we should change is website navigation. Below is the new website flow I designed.

After determining a more optimal navigation for the site we

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
